On March 20th, the BCSEA Kamloops Chapter hosted an event called The Power of Sustainable Investing, in partnership with Transition Kamloops, Thompson Rivers University Sustainability Office and the speaker, Tim Nash. The session was highly informative, generating interest, excitement, and engaging discussion. The 35 minutes talk (PowerPoint slides attached below), was followed by an equally well-received half an hour of Q&A. About half of the seventy attendees stayed for a break-out session.

Harbour Air is embarking on what is believed to be a world first, adding an electric plane to its fleet — a zero-emission aircraft powered by a 750-horsepower electric motor.
The company has 42 planes and 12 routes, and operates from centres such as Victoria, Vancouver and Seattle. It is North America’s largest seaplane airline, serving 500,000 passengers on 30,000 commercial flights every year.

The commission issued its decision on FBC's long term electricity resource plan (LTERP) yesterday. The plan addresses forecasts of energy and capacity needs, supply side resources and demand-side resources. BCSEA and SCBC intervened actively, including providing expert evidence (by Jim Grevatt) on DSM. Here are highlights of the decision from a sustainability perspective:
