You are invited to join us at our BCSEA Kamloops Chapter AGM on October 29, 7:00 – 9:00 pm at TRU Old Main room 2621. We’ll have our reports and elections in the first 15 minutes. After that, we have an interactive consultation session led by Maren Luciani, Community Planning Supervisor for the City of Kamloops. City planners are working on an update to KAMPLAN, our Official Community Plan, and this is an opportunity for us to share our thoughts and wishes in what’s being called a “topic meeting” on the theme of Growth Management.
We’d appreciate if you would register so we can keep an eye on numbers. There’s no charge to attend, of course. See the Registration link above.
The Growth Management theme includes all of this: “Triple Bottom Line” accountability, considering social, economic, and environmental sustainability in all decisions; Balancing sprawl and service availability verses the demand for new growth areas; Defining neighbourhood centres, town centres, regional centres, urban and suburban designations; Neighbourhoods (containing commercial, residential, institutional, industrial...); Improving housing affordability; Increasing numbers of multifamily housing units; Expanding suites and opportunities for laneway housing; Brownfield Development; Using “Green” infrastructure; Increasing density based on walkability and proximity to services and amenities through techniques like infill.
