Amendments to and regulations under the BC Clean Energy Act stipulate that contractors must participate in an orientation session held by the Ministry of Energy and Mines. Contractors are required to attend only one 90-minute session, and three different sessions will be held to accommodate different professional and personal schedules. Contractors wishing to give their customers the option to participate in the FortisBC Home Loan Program must attend at one of the following times:

At the Penticton Lakeside Resort, 21 Lakeside Drive West, Penticton, BC V2A 7M5

Tuesday, September 18, 7:30 am – 9 am Breakfast will be provided

Tuesday, September 18, 3 pm – 4:30 pm Coffee, tea and cookies will be provided

At the Watermark Beach Resort, 15 Park Place, Osoyoos, BC V0H 1V0

Wednesday, September 19, 7:30 – 9 am Breakfast will be provided

At the Princeton & District Community Skills Centre, 206 Vermilion Ave, Princeton, BC V0X 1W0

Wednesday, September 19, 2:00 – 3:30 pm Coffee, tea and cookies will be provided

The Orientation Session is designed to walk Contractors, SO’s and CEA’s step-by-step through the program design, administrative details and eligibility requirements. Information will also be provided on the development of on-bill financing in BC, marketing opportunities for contractors, and crossover with existing energy efficiency incentive programs.

Please note that this invitation is being sent province wide, so that any contractors wishing to provide services in the pilot program areas are notified. It is the Ministry’s intent that all contractors in BC should have the opportunity to participate in one or both of the pilot programs, regardless of where they are based.

Please note that all installers and contractors who will be involved in selling, designing, sizing or installing equipment financed by the FortisBC Home Loan Program must participate in one of the orientation sessions and receive their own registration number. A contracting firm may not simply send a single representative to an orientation session.

The Ministry of Energy and Mines and FortisBC would like to notify all interested contractors and Certified Energy Advisors of the mandatory orientation sessions that will be held for FortisBC’s upcoming Home Loan program in the South Okanagan Area. These area’s include Osoyoos, Oliver, Keremeos, Okanagan Falls, Naramata, Princeton as well as the Penticton, Osoyoos, Lower Similkameen and Upper Similkameen Indian Bands and other rural towns.

Any contractor or Certified Energy Advisor that would like to provide services to participating FortisBC Home Loan homeowners in the South Okanagan MUST attend one of these sessions and receive a registration number. Please read through the attached notice and RSVP by Friday, September 7th to Christina Ross with names, company and date and time of the orientation that will be attended: christina.ross@gov.bc.ca

The mandatory orientation sessions are not an official launch of the Pilot Program or a public/homeowner orientation. This is an Orientation Session for Contractors, Service Organizations and Certified Energy Advisors. The official media launch and Program commencement will occur separately at a later date.
