Ms. McIlroy has worked in the BC renewable energy sector since 2004. Between 2001 and 2005, Jessica completed a number of short-term contracts in Mexico, Ottawa and BC. In 2004 she was part of the formation of the Ocean Renewable Energy Group (OREG), Canada’s sector association for wave and tidal energy, and served on the founding board as Secretary/Treasurer. She stepped down from this position in 2005 to take on the full-time roll as Project Director. In 2010, Jessica formed the BC Women in Energy Network; a non-profit society dedicated to supporting the success of women engaged in BC energy sector. Jessica continues to work part time with OREG and as a consultant. Ms. McIlroy holds a BSc in Environmental Science with a Biology focus from Simon Fraser University, an MSc in Environmental Sustainability from the University of Edinburgh, and an MBA in Executive Management from Royal Roads University. She has also completed a certificate in Climate Change Decision Making from Northwestern University. Jessica has participated in leadership development programs, such as the BioVision.Nxt with the World Life Science’s Forum in Lyon, France, and the Future Energy Leaders Program with the World Energy Congress in Montreal, and has sat on various committees related to the energy and marine sectors.
