BCSEA Victoria Chapter - UVic EcoCAR 2

Chapter Meeting
Jan 16 2012 - 7:00pm to 9:00pm

You are invited to the upcoming Victoria Chapter meeting of the BC Sustainable Energy Association to hear Stefan Kaban describe the University of Victoria's team in 'EcoCAR 2: Plugging into the Future'.

The University of Victoria is one of 15 North American universities  participating. Students convert a conventional GM-donated vehicle into a hybrid electric (HEV) to reduce its environmental impacts by minimizing fuel consumption and reducing its emissions, while retaining its performance, safety and consumer appeal..

Stefan Kaban, the team leader of the UVic EcoCAR team, will explain the EcoCAR competition, discuss the challenges involved, and cover other related topics such as

  • current and emerging hybrid vehicle technologies
  • comparison of hybrids vs pure electric vehicles
  • hybrid and electric vehicle uptake in BC
  • driving tips for maximizing your fuel economy (with engineering proof!)

Stefan Kaban is a graduate student in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Victoria. He is also the Team Leader and project manager of the UVic EcoCAR team. Born and raised in Victoria, he studied at Camosun College before coming to UVic to complete his B.Eng. He has been working with the team since its inception in 2008.

Venue accessible, with ramps.

Admission free, no registration required, public welcome, tea & coffee provided.
