BCSEA Vancouver Chapter Meeting: Solar PV - Industry, technology and its future in Canada

Chapter Meeting
Nov 4 2009 - 7:00pm to 8:30pm

With presenter John Stonier, VP Strategic Planning & Treasurer, Day4 Energy Inc.

John will provide an overview of Solar Photovoltaics, Day4’s contribution to the technology and will discuss the industry at large, recent developments in Ontario, and California, and what potential PV has for Canada’s renewable energy infrastructure.

Day4 is Canada’s leading photovoltaic technology company based in Burnaby, BC. Day4 designs, manufactures and sells leading quality photovoltaic modules into the vibrant PV markets of the world including Europe and evolving markets in North America.

John has previously sat on the Board of Directors of the BC Sustainable Energy Association, and currently is a member of the advisory board of SolarBC. SolarBC is carrying out an exciting program to install in British Columbia: solar thermal heating systems for 2,000 residential homes; solar thermal systems on 20 government buildings; solar thermal and PV systems for BC schools, social housing and first nations; and, to work in partnership and provide financial incentives to make five BC communities “solar friendly”.

John is also Spokesperson, and Director of the Vancouver Electric Vehicle Association. His current project to complete an electric car conversion will not be completely finished, until he completes a solar PV array to assist in re-charging his born-again automobile. (With Day4 modules… of course!)
