BCSEA and the Okanagan Regional Library are co-hosting a 'Simply Solar Energy' presentation
to be held at the library's main level 'Meeting Room'. This talk will cover many aspects of how solar
energy can be harnessed and used for much more than just photovoltaics. Alanna will be sharing
the basics of solar, from personal experience, as well as showing BC's involvement in solar compared
to the rest of the world. This is a free event and the public is encouraged to attend.
Renewable energy is becoming a major driver for economic growth around the world, with new installed capacity averaging 30% growth per year.
With the cost of solar modules dramatically decreasing, solar is one of the fastest growing renewable energy sources in the world.
This presentation will give an introduction to basic solar concepts and uses, and the language used by solar professionals with the approaches they use to bring solar to the world. The presentation will include:
What is Solar Thermal and how can it be used?
What is Daylighting?
What is Solar Electric?
What is the difference with Smart Grids & Smart meters and how do they relate to solar?
What is Net metering, Feed-in-tariff, Time of Use?
What is happening in the world/Canada/BC?
