What is Open Government?
Open Government plays a critical role in ensuring citizens are served by their governments in ways that are transparent, responsive, efficient and fair. It connects people to the governments who serve them and helps make policies and services more citizen-centered. Building on the foundation of our first four national action plans, we aim to continue promoting openness, transparency, and accountability in the Government of Canada.
From March 2 to May 1, 2020, we’ll be connecting with Canadians online and across the country to hear their ideas, experiences, insights, and stories on what open government means to them; what could be improved and what direction they think open government needs to go. We review every comment, idea, and suggestion received online or at engagement events. This input becomes the basis for conversations throughout the Government of Canada to create draft commitments for the plan.
More precisely, we’ll be hosting in-person events as part of this consultation within the Victoria region. Click the link for more information.
