BC Commuter Challenge, a free event from June 2 - 8th, 2019
Taking place in all participating Communities, Cities, Municipalities and Towns along the coast and across BC. It aims to challenge workplaces to commute sustainably together through friendly, engaging 'competition'. Participants log their commutes to see their direct influence on the environment. We help by proving how their sustainable choice reduces CO2 emissions and show off the results to the rest of BC and Canada! The benefits for the workplace is a healthy way to challenge and engage each other and all the while doing something good for the planet.
This week long event is coordinated by Better Environmentally Sound Transportation, a local nonprofit. BEST is committed to the development of healthy communities structured around walking, cycling, transit, carpooling and carsharing. Our accomplishments thus far have helped to reduce CO2 emissions and make sustainable transportation commonly accessible through various programs. BEST has been around for 25 years and gained the first million dollar grant to help develop the Central Valley Greenway. Our Community Bikes is a program born of BEST and is now invaluable to so many cyclists. Our organization is ever evolving and adapting to create new programs which will benefit the environment and the way that we commute within it.
Hopefully your employees are encouraged to use sustainable transportation to commute to work. BC Commuter Challenge is the perfect event to get your employees to use sustainable transportation. Besides doing the environment a favour, which is a great thing in itself, we have loads of prizes to give away this year as incentives to participate. It is quick and easy to register and only takes a couple of minutes. https://commuter.commuterchallenge.ca/register/workplace
