BCSEA Kamloops is looking for two or three volunteers to join our steering committee!

BCSEA is a provincial organization, but each chapter is semi-autonomous, choosing our own activities and managing our own funds.  The steering committee is the decision-making and organizing group for the local chapter: we are volunteers who work together organizing Kamloops events and initiatives, spreading the message of a renewable energy future, reduced dependence on fossil fuels and the urgency of climate change.

Our activities in Kamloops have included hosting speakers, films and tours; advocating for alternative transportation options and a more livable, walkable city; and promotions featuring electric vehicles, solar energy and clotheslines.  We are a well-known voice for energy sustainability in Kamloops and have been active for over 10 years.

No specific skills or experience are needed, but you should share our vision of a clean, renewable energy future and be willing to work as part of a team.  You'll need to be a member of the BCSEA in good standing.  If you're not a member currently, it's easy to sign up online. Term length is one year and you're welcome to serve for multiple years.

The steering committee has an evening meeting once every month or two (often at TRU) to plan ahead and coordinate our work, and we email frequently between meetings.  You should like working with the team and be willing to spend some personal time planning ahead for chapter projects and initiatives.  The time commitment in addition to our monthly meetings could be an hour or more per month, as your time allows.

Steering committee members enjoy working together to shift Kamloops toward a healthy and happy low-carbon economy and lifestyle. You'll be able to contribute to our community, and you'll gain skills while you're doing it.  You'll make connections with like-minded individuals who share your passion.  We have fun together!

For more information please contact Kamloops@bcsea.org.  If you’re interested in this opportunity, please send an email describing yourself and why you're interested, and we'd like to meet with you to discuss further.
