Tell BC Hydro what you think about Net Metering changes — Deadline April 2nd
BC Hydro has an online survey to get stakeholders’ opinions about some specific changes to its Net Metering program:
The survey will close on April 2, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. Hydro will include the survey results in an application to the Utilities Commission in April.
In June 2018, the Commission gave interim approval to a change to Hydro’s NM tariff preventing new customers from signing on if their expected annual generation exceeds their expected annual load.
In April, Hydro will ask the Commission to make this change permanent. Hydro will also seek approval for other changes, including:
— terms for grandfathering existing NM customers that generate more load than they consume;
— a reduction in the price Hydro pays NM customers for annual net excess generation; and
— options for changing the anniversary date on which NM banked energy is paid off.
BCSEA encourages its members to take the survey. The survey results will form part of the record for the Commission’s review of Hydro’s application, and the Commission will pay attention to the number of people expressing support for NM:
The questions are very narrow. However, there is an explanatory presentation here: https://www.bchydro.com/content/dam/BCHydro/customer-portal/documents/co...
