On April 22nd, people all over the world show their support for the environment by celebrating EarthWork Day. This year the BCSEA Vancouver Chapter, SES Consulting and Enernoc teamed up to do a Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup.
The event aims to remove ocean pollution and protect marine life by clearing garbage off beaches. Twelve volunteers attended the event from Enernoc, SES Consulting and BCSEA. The shoreline at Stanley Park was cleaned from the Brockton oval all the way to the Girl In Wetsuit statue.
The team collected 210 pieces of foam, 125 pieces of plastic and remarkably 2,353 pieces of glass! Additionally, and certainly more unique, the team collected 7 spark plugs, a flipper and a 3 foot aluminum pencil! Huge congratulations and thanks to the organizers and to all the volunteers that came out to celebrate EarthWork Day!
