For the third time running, BCSEA Okanagan entered into the Vernon Winter Fair Parade this year. With this year's theme being Mardi Gras, they turned heads with their floats of 8 electric vehicles and their costumes, decked out in beads, glitz and glam.

Today the Energy Forum, a coalition of B.C. power producers, industry associations and environmental organizations of which BCSEA is proud to be a part of, released a letter to the Premier of B.C. calling for an ambitious Climate Leadership Plan that transitions the province away from fossil fuels and incorporates the Climate Leadership Team recommendations.

Last August, we urgently appealed to you, our members, to show the government your support for effective action on climate change. The B.C. government had called for public comments on what should be in an updated B.C. Climate Leadership Plan (“CLP”), and the upcoming UN Conference on Climate Change in Paris (“COP 21”) created the expectation (since confirmed) of a growing global consensus that all the world needs to act urgently to minimize harmful climate change.

BCSEA Victoria Chapter held a summer retreat in 2014 to determine a project for all of 2015 that would unify, inspire and motivate people to action. We unanimously agreed to work on the proposal submitted to explore all major areas related to federal policy on Climate Change up to and including the 2015 Federal Election Campaign.

Today the Province of British Columbia released the recommendations of its Climate Leadership Team. Earlier this year, government created the volunteer team and asked it to recommend policies that would ensure the province meets its legislated carbon-reduction targets while continuing to grow the economy.

A Partnership That Works!   Dogwood and the BC Sustainable Energy Association (BCSEA) linked arms over a year ago to prepare for the federal election. The partnership took a lot of work, but it became a highlight of our election campaign in the capital region.
