Climate Action Team Input
In its 2007 Throne Speech, the Government of BC announced many initiatives to address climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Among those commitments was the promise to create a stakeholder committee - the Climate Action Team - to provide government with additional recommendations for meeting GHG reduction targets. In November of 2007 the Climate Action Team membership began its work. BCSEA was not on the team, but we worked with a large number of like-minded groups to provide policy research and support to the David Suzuki Foundation, whose CEO, Peter Robinson, was a part of the Team. As well, BCSEA director Naomi Devine was on the Team in her capacity as representative of Common Energy.
BCSEA and its collaborators immediately produced a compendium of great greenhouse gas reducing strategies for all sectors of society, for input to the Climate Action Team - stongly demonstrating to the government our forward-thinking, solutions-oriented attitude toward the climate change issue.
