Federal Government
The BC Sustainable Energy Association engages the federal government on sustainable energy issues relevant to its jurisdiction.
Under the Canadian constitution, jurisdiction over energy resources lies with the provinces, however, the federal government holds power over several areas of critical importance to the promotion of sustainable energy. The federal government has the ability to set national standards and to make international agreements on air emissions and related issues such as fuel efficiency standards; federal environmental assessments; and federal financial and budgetary measures.
