BC Utilities Commission Hearings on
BC Hydro's Integrated Electricity Plan

The BC Sustainable Energy Association, the Sierra Club of Canada - BC Chapter, and the Peace Valley Enviroment Association are currently in BC Utilities Commission (BCUC) hearings on BC Hydro's 2006 Integrated Electricity Plan (IEP).

At the hearings, we are advocating for more Demand Side Management (DSM) expenditures and more ambitious DSM targets. We are also promoting and highlighting our evidence that BC Hydro should not be assessing its $3/MWh price premium for hourly firm energy (i.e. not wind energy) because BC Hydro's reservoir system has plenty of buffering capacity for the intemittency of wind, and there is no effective cost to BC Hydro, at least for the amounts of wind we're talking about now.

Here you can review the evidence of our expert witnesses:

Plunkett, from Vermont, and Fagan, from Massachussetts, are attending the hearings to present this evidence.
