The BCSEA is committed to the education of young people in our Province. As the face of our future, children inspire change, and sustainable energy educational programs for students often lead to more engaged parents at home. We offer resources that are free for use in classrooms in British Columbia as well as links to online resources that can further inspire programs at your school.

Brightcycle

Designed and built to meet the requirement for an eye-catching and interactive display for trade shows, exhibits, and conferences, the Energy Efficiency Demonstration Bike demonstrates the concept of energy efficiency in a manner that is both fun and educational. The cyclist spins a generator to make electricity which is used to power either a compact fluorescent or incandescent light bulb by way of a switch. By having to physically supply the power to each light bulb, the cyclist gains an experiential understanding of energy efficiency. The brightcycle is available free for use by educators and community organizations.

Climate Change Showdown

The BC Sustainable Energy Association can help teach your students about climate change and the many solutions available to address this problem. The Climate Change Showdown encourages team work as students collaboratively move around the game board, learning about positive and negative environmental consequences that result from individual and societal actions and behaviours. The program is free and takes 80 minutes to deliver in class.
