Pine beetle will cost 11,000 jobs in B.C.: study

The current mountain pine beetle epidemic has peaked in most areas of the British Columbia's Interior, but economic impacts to employment will persist for decades to come, according to an economic analysis.
The mountain pine beetle epidemic is projected to lead to a net loss of 11,250 direct forestry jobs and as many as 9,500 indirect jobs in the B.C. Interior through to 2028, according to the analysis, which was completed by the region's Central 1 Credit Union.
