The City of Richmond is committed to energy management best practices, through policies and actions that place energy conservation and efficiency as high priorities in the planning and operation of all of the City’s facilities. Energy management best practices are also achieved through the incorporation of sustainable energy technologies in new and existing facilities energy systems.
The City of Richmond’s energy initiatives are a part of the Sustainability Framework that has been developed to establish sustainability goals and priorities in nine key areas, which includes sustainable resource use and climate prepared city.
Aligned with the Sustainability Framework, the City of Richmond is a signatory of the British Columbia Climate Action Charter, and has set reduction targets of 10% and 33% reduction in energy use and greenhouse gas emissions respectively by 2020 from 2007 levels.
