The next Green Drinks event is scheduled for Tuesday March 30th at the Raven Haven, 421 George St. at 7pm.
The topic for discussion is the proposed Enbridge Pipelines. The presenter will be Josh Deleenheer of the Sea to Sands Conservation Alliance.
The proposal is for dual pipelines to be built from the Alberta Tarsands across North Central BC to Kitimat enabling export by Oil Tanker of bitumen across our presently pristine Pacific Coast, while condensate would be transported from there across our land and rivers to Fort McMurray. This project would enable a 30% increase in rate of extraction from the Tar Sands. The Federal and Provincial Governments, contrary to popular belief, deny that there is an oil tanker moratorium. How are we meant to reach our greenhouse gas emission targets and individually practice conservation?
