Building Better Buildings: Passivhaus (Passive House)

Dr. Guido Wimmers will discuss passive house. He will explain what makes a building environmentally friendly, economical, comfortable, healthy, long lasting and energy efficient. He will give a quick overview about the so called “Passivhaus” in general and he will present the first passive house in BC, the Austria House in Whistler.

This building will host the Austrian team, broadcaster and Olympic committee during the games and will be transferred to the municipality of Whistler afterwards to accommodate the mountain bike club and the cross country ski club with adjunct rental facility. The Austria House is also the first solid wood building in BC and was build with prefabricated elements in less than 3 weeks.
