Official Opening of Dockside Green’s Biomass Gasification Plant

On Tuesday, July 7, 2009 Dockside Green and the Clinton Climate Initiative (CCI) will officially open Dockside’s biomass gasification plant – Canada’s first urban gasification energy facility. The opening launches the partnership between Dockside Green and CCI’s Climate Positive Development Program.

Dockside Green has been chosen as one of 16 founding projects on six continents demonstrating climate positive strategies for the Clinton Climate Initiative’s Climate Positive Development Program. The program’s objective is to set a compelling environmental and economic example for other cities to follow. The Dockside Green biomass plant from Nexterra - owned by Dockside Green Energy (a partnership between Vancity, Corix and Terasen) – was instrumental in the development of the partnership.
