This month's topic was Local Government: Front Lines of the Climate War. Municipal elections were again upon us (every three years at about this time!). Several BCSEA Chapters were preparing to engage candidates for municipal office through surveys and all-candidates meetings, including the Kelowna "How Green is Your Vote" forum on Saturday afternoon, October 25.
At election time, the opportunity exists to identify and elect mayors and councillors based on their understanding and commitment to act on the climate crisis and the energy solutions that are within their authority to implement. What policies and tools are available for BC municipal leaders and what examples are being set in other parts of the world?
Our featured presenters this month were:
- Dale Littlejohn, Strategy and Outreach Manager with the Community Energy Association; and
- Guy Dauncey, author, speaker, sustainability consultant and BCSEA President.
