The BCSEA turned six years old this summer. And while it seems like only yesterday that this organization was born, so much has changed since 2004.

As a young organization, we explored everything and put our hands in all the cookie jars, to see what delights or possibilities they held. We wanted to do everything - and what youngster doesn’t!

Through these years we’ve gained tremendous insights into how best to create change, build a strong organization, and focus on the unique strengths BCSEA brings to energy issues in this province. That’s why, as we grow into a more mature organizational phase, we’re making some changes that will set the stage for future successes.

What’s the payback period on a typical residential solar thermal installation?  Which rebate programs apply to your planned reno?  How can you measure the energy use of your existing appliances?  No matter where you live in BC, you can find out the answers to these questions (and more!) at BCSEA’s 4th annual Kamloops Energy Fair.

“The Kamloops Energy Fair is a community event and trade show demonstrating how we can all use energy more sustainably in our homes, businesses, and transportation,” says organizer Cheryl Kabloona. “Everybody wants to help with the challenge of climate change, but it’s hard to know how to go about it," she explains. "The Energy Fair highlights big and small ideas that everyone can try -- the whole range from getting mobile on an electric bicycle to installing wind turbines.”

Last month, BCSEA Vancouver celebrated Earth Day with Rocky Mountain Flat Bread Company in Kitsilano.

We enjoyed some delicious pizzas, shared thoughts with families around renewable energy options and sustainable living, and quizzed them with our Climate Chance board game questions in exchange for CFL bulbs from BC Hydro, and Low Flow shower heads and One Day Vancouver T-Shirts from City of Vancouver!
