In his newly published book The Climate Challenge, Guy Dauncey issues the challenge that we must reduce our global carbon footprint to almost zero by 2040, ushering in a new civilization that will be happier, healthier and more sustainable.

Taken together, the Solutions represent an amazing blossoming of innovation that will change the world and create a host of new green collar jobs.

In Vancouver we're kicking things off with a Parade over the Cambie Bridge along Pacific Boulevard to Science World. Ceremonies start on the bridge at Noon, and the parade starts at 12:30. Music, performance workshops and more get underway at 2 pm at Science World.

Open to members and not-yet-members alike, this is a great opportunity to discover what the BC Sustainable Energy Association is and does, specifically the Vancouver Chapter. We will review what has happened within the chapter for the past year, look ahead to the coming year, and discuss new ideas, roles, and opportunities to help make BC a leader in the field of renewable and sustainable energy.

Instead of the usual meeting for June 3rd, the Vancouver Chapter is arranging a field trip for later in the month – details coming soon.

Retrofitting residential neighbourhoods for 80% greenhouse gas reductions: Focus on Burnaby. Special presenter Ellen Pond will look at alternate energy systems for domestic energy demand, neighbourhood design changes to move us to a transportation mode shift, and local food production possibilities.

Topic: Building the Green Economy Locally. Presenter - Dale Littlejohn, Strategy and Outreach Manager for the Community Energy Association. As the featured presenter at the BCSEA Vancouver Chapter monthly meeting, Dale will discuss the local government role in climate change adaptation, mitigation, and building the green economy.
