Vancouver Chapter Represents BCSEA at Sustainability 2008
Over the weekend of October 24-25 Vancouver hosted the first annual Canadian Green Investment Conference — Sustainability 2008 — and BCSEA was there! From our booth we met and talked with hundreds of people from across the country who are working to help Canada develop and utilize our sustainable resources. Some were representatives from small, innovative companies working to give BC new wind farms, small-scale hydroelectric generators, solar cells, or geothermal plants. Others were focused on cleaning emissions from existing power plants or helping consumers reduce their energy footprint. Still others were just concerned individuals and passers-by who wanted to learn more about the direction British Columbia and the rest of Canada are taking to meet our energy demands in a sustainable way. Altogether, there were almost 50 organizations manning booths at the conference.
Regardless of where they came from or why they were there, everyone found something to take home with them — and I’m not referring to the free tote bag. What they found was proof positive that Canada’s business community is moving forward to embrace what promises to be the biggest technological revolution since the beginning of the digital age 30 years ago; and with your continued support, the BCSEA can continue our efforts to help BC be Canada’s new Silicon Valley!
