BCSEA at Prince George Home Show

The BCSEA Central Interior chapter had a booth at the Prince George Home Builders Association home show again this year. For the first time, three other booths had displays that included solar technologies, one with PV and two with evacuated tube SDHW collectors. We see this as a positive development because spectators moving between the three inter-connected arenas kept running into solar technologies. We no longer appeared to be just a niche group with an agenda.

We had a poster on the front table showing actual measured data proving how well solar hot water works in Prince George. It was a real eye opener for many people. The water ram was a good "ice breaker". We used it as a guessing game to get people engaged in conversation. Only one person who we talked to knew what it was.

Our display this year included a 175 watt PV panel, Surrette batteries, an Outback inverter, a water ram, and models of three solar hot water collector technologies (evacuated tube, flat plate, and pool). A laptop was available for people who wanted to join BCSEA but only one person used it. A draw for a Sun-Mar garden composter (donated by Roy Howard of Rocky Mountain Solar), was won by Prince George resident Nicole Philip. Five members helped in our booth so we had good coverage on Friday and Saturday. but only one person was there most of Sunday.
