Track Energy Savings For BC Hydro Reward

A $75 Incentive Available for 10 Percent Reduction in Energy Use

BC Hydro is currently rewarding people who can save 10% of their fuel bill with $75. Sign-up to be a Team PowerSmart Member and track your energy savings on line.

Reward eligibility: Account holders must have at least 12 months history at the same address, must be a Team Power Smart member, and must sign up to Track Your Savings online. Solar hot water will definitely help you reach this goal.

"This is a great tool," says SolarBC Project Manager Liz Kelly. "I can see on line that since we installed our solar hot water system, our BC Hydro bills for April and May are already significantly less than they were during the same time last year."

Above is Liz Kelly’s energy savings since her Enerworks system was installed on her home in February of this year. The data is from Liz’s account on the BC Hydro’s website. It covers the period April – July, so 4 months year to year.

Liz is currently saving over 40% on her whole Hydro bill since the install. Her average daily consumption is down to 12 kWh, which means she now only pays the BC Hydro conservation rate of 6.27 c/kWh.

"Since we installed our system, we have also changed quite a few of our water use habits," adds Liz. "Mainly using hot water when our solar panels are producing it for free. This usually means it’s sunny and we can dry our washing outside. We’re not using our energy guzzling clothes dryer very much at all these days, so are saving even more energy."
