Background information
The Energy Fair is a tradeshow and exhibition of clean energy products, services, and ideas that provide area residents with information and options on how to live greener lifestyles. Local businesses, non-profit groups, and government organizations make displays and talk about how they can help residents go green.

Reaching out to youth
Youth have an important role to play when it comes to energy; it is your future that is being affected by the choices we make today. That is why we want you to help the BCSEA and all our exhibitors get the message out to our community that clean energy is important and we must act now!
Clean Green Energy Projects
Display a project that portrays the message of Clean, Green, Energy at the Energy Fair and you could win a prize. It’s simple; register as an individual, group, class, or even whole school and show up on setup day June 18 with your project. Students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 are eligible to enter. You will be given a table at the Energy Fair. The only rule is that it must relate to the theme: Clean, Green Energy.
All types of projects are welcome: science, art, literature, math, commerce, social studies, PE… as long as it relates to our theme.
- Science projects: solar heaters, bio diesel generators, worm composting displays, local eating and why it saves energy
- Art projects: posters encouraging people to take alternative transportation/ eat local/ save energy, sculptures of the art of recycling, model mock windmills
- Literature: write a story about the importance of saving energy, story about what your school/ class/ group did to save energy and be a little greener
- Math: chart out how many kilometers each student drove in a car/ walked/ biked/ rode the bus in one month/ day/ year
- Commerce: display a visit to a local business that is involved in green energy and summarize what you learned
- Other: display something your class or school has done to save energy and the environment
Prizes
The top individual or small team will win a sailing and/or kayaking day at the Shuswap, along with an adult, courtesy of Chase Equipment. The City of Kamloops is offering worm composter bins as a classroom prize, along with live worms and training. Students can win other assorted prizes and passes to the Kamloops YMCA-YWCA and the Tournament Capital Centre pool.
